Voltaren (Diclofenac Sodium)
General information
Voltaren is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is prescribed to reduce pain caused by arthritis or acute injury and inflammation. It can decrease menstrual pain, dysmenorrhea.
Directions
It is recommended to take the medicine as it was prescribed by your doctor. Take it with a glass of water. Swallow pill the whole. Do not exceed your recommended dose.
Precautions
Before starting your treatment with Voltaren inform your doctor if you have allergy to it, Parkinson's disease, kidney or liver disease, high blood pressure; if you are pregnant or breastfeed. Do not drink alcoholic beverages and smoke. Middle aged people can be sensitive to the medicine.
Contraindications
Patients with hypersensitivity to Voltaren and with sodium-sensitive hypertension shouldn't use the medicine.
Possible side effect
Side effects can be the following: dry mouth, dizziness, irritability, sedation, insomnia, urinary retention. Serious side effects are unlikely to occur. If necessary seek emergency medical help at once.
Drug interaction
Before starting your treatment tell your doctor about all medicines you may use. Voltaren can interact with the following medicines: NSAIDs of the salicylate group and anticoagulants. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for additional information.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time of the next intake just skip it and go back to your schedule.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms are chest pain, nausea, irregular heartbeat, and feeling light-headed or fainting.
Storage
Store the medicine at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Keep all drugs away from reach of children and pets.
